Reverend Steven Evans
Steven L. Evans is the blessed husband of Jessica Stewart Evans, of Birmingham, Alabama, and the very proud father of their four daughters: Gabriella (17), Norah (12), Meagan (9) and Lauren (8). Steven Evans is a native of Greenville, South Carolina. Educated in the Greenville County public school system, Steven graduated with honors from Eastside High School, in Taylors, SC in 1993. He completed his undergraduate studies at Berea College, in Berea, Kentucky, graduating in 1997 with a BA in Political Science. After graduation, Steven returned to Greenville to complete his training under the Board of Examiners of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Thus, completing his boards and becoming an ordained itinerant elder in 2001. Steven’s ministry is modeled from 1 Peter 5:2 “Care for the flock that God has entrusted to you. Watch over it willingly, not grudgingly-not for what you get out of it, but because you are eager to serve.” He is currently the pastor of St. Paul AME Church in Irmo, SC.
Steven has served as pastor for the following charges in African Methodist Episcopal Church: The Greer Taylors Initiative: Pastor Allen Temple AME Church, Greenville, SC: Youth Pastor Bethlehem AME Church , Belton, SC: Pastor Friendship AME Church, Clinton, SC: Pastor (2009-2018)
In 2006, Steven earned his Master’s from Southern Wesleyan University in Central, South Carolina.
Steven L. Evans’ work experience includes ten years with the City of Greenville, including his last affiliation with the municipality as its Assistant Community Programs Manager; Public Affairs/Marketing/Development Coordinator for New Horizon Family Health Services in Greenville, SC; Director of Public Relations with Cannon Memorial Hospital in Pickens, SC; and and a Marketing consultant for the Laurens County Chamber of Commerce.
Steven has a strong history of community involvement as a volunteer and member of various coalitions and boards. Some of his activities and service efforts include the following:
